Matthew Simon – Jazz Standards Easy

Workshops based on:

  1. Learning the most common arpeggios and scales used in jazz standards and how to use them for improvisation in a creative way, paying attention to musical details like articulation, phrasing and accentuation.
  2. Musical improvisation, creating musical ideas in original and unique ways and developing them in a fun atmosphere.
  3. Exploring different ways to explore improvisation.  Vertical improvisation means that it is based on chord tones, and how to study the correct notes to play when improvising.  Horizontal improvisation means that we need to find tools to create melodic ideas to develop during improvisation.
